If you’ve been following my blog or any of my social media sites, you may have noticed that I haven’t posted very much new work lately. You might think that I haven’t been very busy, artistically. It couldn’t be further from the truth.
Since October or November, I’ve been busy working on a couple of new series. I’ve posted works in progress here and there, particularly on Instagram, but have not uploaded any of the new work to my website. I’ve been saving it up so that I can introduce a new series with enough artwork to make it look like a series!
I have two directions I’m working in right now. One is a series of mainly red paintings, with gold and blue accents. I have a name for it—Appassionato, from the Italian musical term meaning to perform with great emotion. This is what I’m hoping to convey in these paintings. I’m planning to introduce them in February, the month of passion with Valentine’s Day and more importantly, my wedding anniversary 🙂 !
In the meantime, here are a few hints of what’s to come.
On the other side of the coin, I’m working on a series of soft, abstracted floral paintings, featuring gentle pastels and half-hidden details. Again, works in progress can be viewed on Instagram, where I post updates almost daily. This series (yet to be named) will appear a little later, closer to Spring.
I plan to exhibit both of these series in my upcoming solo exhibition at The Colborne Art Gallery. Yes, I have a solo exhibition coming up and I’m so excited! If you’re in the Northumberland Hills area, I really hope you’ll mark your calendar and come out to the opening reception on Saturday, April 16 at 2:00 pm. I’ll be giving an artist’s talk.
And join my newsletter (top right) to be kept up to date with all the happenings in my studio!
