I paint because I love the act of creating something out of nothing. Painting has become an obsession, something I must do almost every day, or I feel a restlessness and disquiet in my life.

In my paintings, I am influenced by nature’s beauty and bounty, by decorative art and by repetitive patterns. These find their way into my art, along with a good dose of imagination. Colour, often bright, is important. I usually work from a pre-conceived idea, but spontaneously layer colour and texture, allowing the work to take on a life of its own.

Although I create for pleasure, something more occurs—an emotional connection to the world of nature, expressed through my paints and my heart. The message is as simple as this.
